چکیده

Recognizing patterns of human activities is an important enabling technology for building intelligent home environments. Existing approaches to activity recognition often focus on mutually exclusive activities only. In reality, people routinely carry out multiple concurrent activities. It is therefore necessary to model the co-temporal relationships among activities. In this paper, we propose using Factorial Conditional Random Fields (FCRFs) for recognition of multiple concurrent activities. We designed experiments to compare our FCRFs model with Linear Chain Condition Random Fields (LCRFs) in learning and performing inference with the MIT House n data set, which contains annotated data collected from multiple sensors in a real living environment. The experimental results show that FCRFs can effectively improve the recognition accuracy up to 10% in the presence of multiple concurrent activities.

Learning to Recognize Complex Actions Using Conditional Random Fields

Surveillance systems that operate continuously generate large volumes of data. One such system is described here, continuously tracking and storing observations taken from multiple stereo systems. Automated event recognition is one way of annotating track databases for faster search and retrieval. Recognition of complex events in such data sets often requires context for successful disambiguati...

CIGAR: Concurrent and Interleaving Goal and Activity Recognition

In artificial intelligence and pervasive computing research, inferring users’ high-level goals from activity sequences is an important task. A major challenge in goal recognition is that users often pursue several high-level goals in a concurrent and interleaving manner, where the pursuit of goals may spread over different parts of an activity sequence and may be pursued in parallel. Existing a...

Chatting Activity Recognition in Social Occasions Using Factorial Conditional Random Fields with Iterative Classification

Recognizing activities in social occasions plays an important role of building human social networks. For example, the recognition of social interactions could be of great help to determine whether any two attendees have the same interests in an academic conference or a cocktail party. Among the various types of social interactions, chatting with others is a significant indicator. Furthermore, ...

A Novel Approach to Conditional Random Field-based Named Entity Recognition using Persian Specific Features

Named Entity Recognition is an information extraction technique that identifies name entities in a text. Three popular methods have been conventionally used namely: rule-based, machine-learning-based and hybrid of them to extract named entities from a text. Machine-learning-based methods have good performance in the Persian language if they are trained with good features. To get good performanc...
